Michelle Dilhara, born Hatharasinghege Michelle Dilhara on 1 May 1996 in Ragama, Sri Lanka, is a versatile Sri Lankan actress, environmentalist, author, philanthropist, and former karate gold medalist. Standing at 5 ft 5 in (165 cm), she is the eldest of three sisters and completed her education at Negombo South International School and Newstead Girls College.
She began her acting career in 2016 with the teledrama Salsapuna, gaining early fame as “Podi Paththarakari” (Preethiwa). Her breakthrough came with the role of Ayoma in the popular series Sudu Andagena Kalu Awidin, which earned her multiple accolades, including Best Upcoming Actress at the Raigam Tele’es, Sumathi Awards, and State Television Awards. She has since starred in numerous teledramas like Thuththiri, Calin, and Lalai Lilai Lai, winning the Most Popular Teledrama Actress of the Youth award and the Most Popular Teledrama Actress title at Raigam Tele’es 2025.
Beyond acting, Dilhara is a passionate environmental activist and served as Earth Day Network Ambassador for Sri Lanka. She founded the “Invisible to Visible Movement,” authored the book Social Invisibility Is Not a Fiction It Exists, and received the National Youth Icon Award 2019 and Asia Inspiration Award for her social work. A talented presenter and multilingual personality, she continues to inspire through her artistry and humanitarian efforts, making her one of Sri Lanka’s most admired young stars.
