Statue of the venerable Arahant Maha Kassapa

 Reaffirming once again the unparalleled Buddhist connection between Sri Lanka and India, a very rare and historic event took place in the Indian state of Bihar on 2nd February 2026. That is, a statue of the venerable Arahant Maha Kassapa, the foremost among the disciples of Gautama Buddha, was brought from Sri Lanka to the historic Gurupada Parvata or Kukkuta Sampatha Parvata in India, where the venerable one resided.
