The owner of a hotel located in the Gunathilakawatta area on the Kalutara - Mathugama main road was killed this morning around 7:50 AM in an inhumane shooting attack by two unidentified gunmen who broke into the hotel. According to the police, the attack, carried out with a T56 firearm, was so severe that the assailants continued firing until the magazine was empty.
The businessman killed in this brutal attack was Thushara Sampath Edirisinghe, known by the alias 'Dagan Sampath'. His wife, Shiromi Samaraweera, who was beside him at the time of the shooting, also sustained serious injuries and is currently receiving treatment at the Nagoda Hospital in Kalutara.
