Sasanthi Jayasekara

Sasanthi Udara Jayasekara (born 18 December 1975 in Sri Lanka) is a Sri Lankan actress who built a well-known career in Sinhala cinema and teledramas in the late 1990s and 2000s before relocating to the United Kingdom.

She trained for about 20 years at Kalaboomi under the guidance of veteran musician, actor, and teacher Lakshman Wijesekara, whom she has described as a formative influence from the age of eight. Wijesekara encouraged her entry into film, television, and music; she has publicly credited him with opening doors in the industry and remaining a mentor even into her adult years.

Her film credits include Hai Hui Babi Achchi (2001, as Payodara), Parliament Jokes (2002, as Pushpakumara’s daughter), Numba Nadan Apita Pissu (2003), Aladinge Waladin (2003, as Kasturi), Juliya (2009, as Shakei), a supporting role as a convent student in Mother Teresa: In the Name of God’s Poor (1997), and Theertha Yathra (1999).

She remains visible to audiences through social media and YouTube while living primarily in England. Her story reflects a common path among Sri Lankan performers who built early careers at home before establishing family lives overseas.
